- Supermarkets
The nearest supermarket is the SPAR which has very good quality food and drink as well as all sorts of useful things that you didn't know you needed. There are three other supermarkets in town, so there is a lot of choice.
Please note that all of the supermarkets close on Saturday at around 5.00 pm and do not open again till Monday morning. Also be careful not to get caught out as credit cards are not generally accepted in supermarkets. Maestro works, or cash!
The SPAR supermarket is now open every Sunday afternoon during the winter between 14.00 and 18.00.
- Sports Shops
There is an alpine sports shop in the town, opposite the SPAR which has quite a wide selection of outdoor shoes and clothing. There is much more choice in Altenmarkt which is only a ten minute drive away.
- Banks and Post Office
There is a Raifeissen Bank with an international ATM, a post office and a very good information office where visitors can find out what is going on in town. You will find this in the town centre.
- The Bakery
If you prefer your breads really fresh, the bakery (just opposite the post office) is open every day, but more importantly it is also open on Sunday mornings between 7.00 and 10.30. We found this to be very useful as all of the supermarkets are closed on Sunday
- Doctors
Flachau does have a doctor, and his contact details as well as the medical centre details are in the apartment.
An alternative is to go to the Medical Centre in Altenmarkt. This is an excellent medical facility with a wide range of specialist doctors including Paedeatric. The web site is www.agzmed.at and the telephone number is +43 6452 51517700.
- More Shopping
For more extensive shopping Alten Markt has a wider offering.
St. Johan has the biggest shopping in the area (other than Salzburg) and you will find pretty much everything that you might need there.
For more upmarket and traditional shopping the high street in Werfen is well worth a visit.
